Swati Jain is a transdisciplinary architectural designer, artist, and educator whose work investigates sociocultural, ecological, and multisensory approaches to foster collective empathy and equitable design. Born in India, based in New York City, her practice engages with themes of identity, phenomenological embodiment, and contemporary labor practices.

With 7 years of diverse experience in exhibition design, institutional, historic preservation, residential, and urban design projects in both New York City and Mumbai. Jain holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University ; Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Mumbai. She is currently a faculty at Parsons School of Constructed Environments and NJIT Hillier College of Architecture and Design. She is also a scholarship recipient at The New Centre in Transdisciplinary Studies & Curatorial Practice.

Jain's ongoing work is centered around designing planetary observational models that respond to ecological phenomena, what she calls “spectral sanctuaries” - spaces that embrace interspecies and plurifunctional movements in urban environments, cultivating open dialogue, collective care, and multi-world co-becomings.

Her practice extends into hospitality and spatial design with a decolonial lens, reviving cultural craft traditions through ritual, alchemy, and myth-making. Rooted in slow, hybrid craft technologies, her methodology links contemporary and traditional making practices to create relational, multi-scalar spaces that enable co-existence and synchronicity with the environment at large.

In 2022, She wrote and directed a film titledKitchen Evolution that was exhibited at The Kitchen NYC, SAWCC and The Tank NYC and distributed by Mubi and Printed Matter. She presented the film at AIA WIA at the Centre for Architecture, New York. In 2023–24, her sculptural furniture collection “Transcendental Phenomenology” was exhibited at The Brooklyn Museum, Ely Center of Contemporary Art, Lyle Gallery, AIA Center for Architecture New York, Museum Textile, Collectible NY, WantedDesign ICFF NYC, GoodNaked Gallery, Upstate Art Weekend and SVA’s Metamorphosis Exhibition.

Her practice has been featured in The New York Times, Wallpaper Magazine, New York Curbed, Interior Design Magazine, Design Milk and STIRpad among others.
